In my experience the presentation of mental health issues in young people is quite different to older adults as are the required engagement strategies and therapy approaches
I have a strong interesting working with people across the life span, including adults with mental health issues. Being an adult with en endless list of responsibilities and pressures often mean our own mental health and wellbeing is pushed way down on the priority list, if listed at all.

And then we get tired of the endless 'to do' list, fatigue and tiredness may present, perhaps other annoying and inconvenient symptoms emerge. And we realise all other priorities rest on our own ability to feel okay, to live a good life, and to take care of ourselves.
I have never met a person who defines themselves by what they can't do, what they are not, and abilities they don't have. But this is precisely the label or 'descriptor' for many young people with a disability. Needless to say, this is frustrating, hurtful, and completely moronic.

After over a decade working in the disability sector I consider myself a staunch advocate, a strength-based support, and hopefully a useful resource of benefit to those I support.
