I work with many young people who may not yet be organised in their lives, people who have neurodiversity such as autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and others who experience stress and anxiety. Hence, being forgetful, demand avoidant, anxious, introverted or shy, and disorganised are all common traits of these conditions.
I acknowledge the struggles to keep on top of everything in life, and the hardship when going through difficult times in life.
I hope we agree that not coming to sessions (where we work together to make things better) is exceptionally impactful. In my experience, missing sessions or last-minute rescheduling leads to poor therapy outcomes, loss of momentum, increase relapse rates, wasting money and time, and additional stress and burden.
For the past 3 years I have experienced a full calendar with very limited availability to support new people. This is particularly the case for appointments at 9am and after 2.30pm.
If you have a regular appointment time (weekly, fortnightly, or monthly) you have been guaranteed this time which means I have sent people away, referred them elsewhere, or they might be on a waiting list for your session time. If you cancel with less than 24-hour notice or miss attending your appointment all future appointments may be cancelled.
When you don’t attend your appointment others have missed out on help and support. This often includes young people too anxious to attend school, adults not attending work or ending up with worse mental health outcomes, relationship difficulties that lead to distress, or even worse impacts.
Please allow a minimum of 24-hour notice for all cancellations. My calendar system sends out several appointment reminders leaving considerable notice of the upcoming time.
For cancellations with less than 24-hour notice, a cancellation fee will be applied as follows:
Appointments at 9am or after 2.30pm: 100% of session cost
Appointments other times: 75% of session cost
Please note: Medicare do not pay rebates for cancellation fees.
Cancellations with less than 24-hour notice may also result in cancellation of all future sessions which means loss of your regular session time.
